Pine Tree Motif

Oil Painting on Slate   9 x 5.5". $35, ppd   --Buy Now with PayPal--

I enjoy painting this tree.  It appears every once in a while as the subject or an accent in a painting.  It caught my eye on an ATV ride to - of all places - a restored strip mine.  It's a remote place with a logging road to it.  Along the way I've found masses of flowers, heard warblers, and am always surprised at how vast the territory is when you leave the main road.

This is an oil painting on antique roof slate. Slate provides a great texture. All the gray color is unpainted. On the back are wood strips with eye-hooks and a hanging wire. Or you can display this on a small easel.  Questions? Email joycooper@nakiska.com

  1. Hello Joy, I'm glad you are painting and blogging again and hope you manage to complete your February challenge. Working with slate is great. A few years ago, I, together with some friends, made some 'Welcome' plaques on roof slates using acrylic sealed with outdoor varnish. We sold them all to raise money for a local women's charity. I look forward to seeing your progress. Sharon.
